The Lakelands area
has everything you could ask for from a water-oriented community.
Lake Greenwood and Lake Strom Thurmond offer more than 82,000
acres of water and 1,400 miles of shoreline that provide excellent
natural habitat for perch, crappie, catfish, bream and striped
bass. A hunting and fishing paradise, the area also supports heavy
populations of deer, wild turkey and other small game. S.C. state
parks in Greenwood, Ninety Six and McCormick offer campsites and
picnic areas galore. Year-round golfing is also available at more
than 20 challenging public and private courses. What’s more,
the area offers a wealth of cultural activities through the renowned
Abbeville Opera House, the McCormick MACK and various community
arts councils. Complementing this sunny disposition, residents
celebrate the beginning of summer each year at the Annual Festival
of Flowers with famous Park Seed Co.
