Application
Recognizing that leadership development
is an essential element in the process of improving
our Association and profession, South Carolina REALTORS® invites you to consider
LeadershipSCR! Through this program, SCR attempts
to identify emerging REALTOR® leaders in
the state, encourage them with motivational activities,
and assist in sharpening their leadership skills in
the hope they will demonstrate a strong positive influence
on the future of the REALTOR® organization.
The participants work together in training courses
which combines individual study, group sessions, and
actual project experience in using leadership skills.
Training sessions include identification of leadership
skills, team-building exercises, procedures for goal
setting, personal profile analysis, network building,
and improving communications skills.
Program Objectives
To identify South Carolina REALTORS® who
have demonstrated leadership potential through job-related
and community activities.
To train participants by developing leadership skills.
To motivate participants by:
• Increasing awareness of real estate and association
management issues
and challenges.
• Involvement in problem-solving activities
on issues of current interest; and
• Providing a network of leaders across the
state who are actively involved
in improving our profession and their local
and state Associations.
Selection Criteria
Participation in LeadershipSCR is open to members
of SCR. A maximum of 15 individuals will be appointed
to participate in the program. Participants will be
chosen by an anonymous LeadershipSCR Selection Committee
based on the information completed on a confidential
application. The Committee will be seeking representation
from a cross-section of participants.
Five Retreats
Retreat 1: Getting Acquainted
A two and a half day retreat focusing on getting acquainted
with each other and a complete overview of the LeadershipSCR
program.
Retreat 2: What Leaders
Know & Do
During this day and a half the class learns the leadership
laws, begins to
understand the knowledge and behavior of leaders
and will hear from a variety of community leaders.
Retreat 3: Law, Legislature
& Leadership
A full day retreat dedicated to the Legislative process
& the
REALTORS®’ role.
Retreat 4: Proven
Leader Series
Intensive two and a half days highlighting the SCR
leadership organization structure and the use of learned
leadership principles.
Retreat 5: Putting
it Together
The final retreat is used to review the principles
learned and to discuss strategies of implementation.
