ABOUT US

In the constantly changing world of real estate, the South Carolina REALTORS®® is an impartial anchor—a source of news, legislative advocacy, ethical enforcement and fair housing support. As the largest professional trade association in South Carolina, we are committed to becoming the moving force in improving the quality of life in the state where we live.

Our members all have one thing in common. Although they represent a spectrum of residential and commercial specialists, small businesses, developers and firms, REALTORS® must swear to uphold a stringent Code of Ethics and complete intense ethics training—a tenet that sets them apart from everyday agents.

Through this professional distinction, our members have shaped the role the South Carolina REALTORS®® plays in our communities. In addition to offering an array of member services, SCAR has evolved as a voice for homeowners and property holders. This position of trust is built upon a reputation of accurate MLS market monitoring, a history of introducing legislation to help homebuyers and a record of promoting quality of life initiatives.

When a client asks if you’re a REALTOR®, put yourself in a position to say yes!

Why should I become a REALTOR®?

The South Carolina REALTORS®® provides agents with the high-caliber member services they need to compete in a changing marketplace. Key benefits include:

Code of Ethics
The REALTOR® Code of Ethics reflects a personal commitment to higher standards and provides an important difference in the minds of consumers.

Legal Hotline
Our free legal hotline is one of our most valuable member benefits. A seasoned real estate lawyer is on call every business day to clarify recent court rulings, explain legal regulations and guide you through Code of Ethics concerns.

Legislative Representation
Because we work in such an easily regulated industry, making your voice heard is one of the primary goals of the South Carolina Association of REALTORS®. In addition to lobbying efforts and grassroots advocacy, SCAR uses the influence of South Carolina’s largest Political Action Committee to help shape policy.

Education
With an average of four live classes per month and convenient online MCE courses, we make it easy to meet your MCE requirements or to earn a competitive designation. Often taught by national speakers or gregarious local standouts, designation courses include Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI), Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Accredited Seller Representative (ASR), e-Pro and selected offerings from the REALTOR® Land Institute (RLI).

Communications
Members benefit from the National Association of REALTORS® award-winning public awareness campaign as well as statewide public relations efforts to promote a positive REALTOR® image. Members can also stay up-to-date on the latest news and events with SCAR’s recently redesigned website, weekly updates, program brochures and event announcements.

Leadership Opportunities

Members are always invited to make their mark as they build their resume by joining committees and serving in leadership roles. This is an excellent way to learn more about the industry while making invaluable professional connections.
