Why
should I become a REALTOR®?
The South Carolina REALTORS®®
provides agents with the high-caliber member services they need
to compete in a changing marketplace. Key benefits include:
Code
of Ethics
The REALTOR® Code of Ethics reflects a personal commitment
to higher standards and provides an important difference in the
minds of consumers.
Legal Hotline
Our free legal hotline is one of our most valuable
member benefits. A seasoned real estate lawyer is on call every
business day to clarify recent court rulings, explain legal regulations
and guide you through Code of Ethics concerns.
Legislative Representation
Because we work in such an easily regulated industry, making your
voice heard is one of the primary goals of the South Carolina
Association of REALTORS®. In addition to lobbying efforts
and grassroots advocacy, SCAR uses the influence of South
Carolina’s largest Political Action Committee to help shape
policy.
Education
With an average of four live classes per month and
convenient online MCE courses, we make it easy to meet
your MCE requirements or to earn a competitive designation. Often
taught by national speakers or gregarious local standouts, designation
courses include Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI), Accredited
Buyer Representative (ABR), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS),
Accredited Seller Representative (ASR), e-Pro and selected offerings
from the REALTOR® Land Institute (RLI).
Communications
Members benefit from the National Association of REALTORS®
award-winning public awareness campaign as well as statewide public
relations efforts to promote a positive REALTOR® image. Members
can also stay up-to-date on the latest news and events with SCAR’s
recently redesigned website, weekly updates, program brochures
and event announcements.
Leadership Opportunities
Members are always invited to make their mark as they build their
resume by joining committees and serving in leadership roles.
This is an excellent way to learn more about the industry while
making invaluable professional connections.
How
to Become a REALTOR®
The first step to becoming a REALTOR®
is to contact your local board or
association. They will collect dues
and arrange for you to attend a new member initiation program.
When your local membership is activated, you will automatically
become a member of the both the South Carolina Association of
REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS®. |
